Pool Mom

Been pretty dead around here for a bit, so I dug through some old pictures and found this one of a Mom and her child at the pool from the last time we were there. I remember this little tyke. He was hysterical when he was walking around. For whatever reason I never got a picture of just him (I think it's because I was there alone with the kids and could only take some candid shots when it was adult swim). Since I've actually posted something that means within twelve hours I fully expect John to make a post and bump me.

On with the show...

We spotted this guy in Venice preparing himself for his shift as a living marble statue.

Reading...

I spotted this car valet guy working in a good read in between cars. Seems as good a place as any.

Saturday Sports Enthusiasts

This racer was warming up and watching the kids play roller hockey at the same time. I kind of feel like this at work sometimes.
Fixed gear bicycle racers start from the wall at the upper edge of the track. You could just tell that this cyclist wanted the race to start ASAP. Her whole body seemed to sigh as she tried to pass time until the event began.
These young teenagers were practicing hockey at the park. As their coach gave them a pep talk they all looked like they would much rather be playing than listening.

Trash Talkin'

We've got a new set of guys (well, at least one new guy, there used to be three guys including the truck driver and now there's just the driver and this guy who we've don't recognize) picking up our trash. Which is kind of sad because before the kids would always run to the window to watch the trash pickup. The kids would always wave and the previous guys knew that and would look for them and wave back. Maybe the other guys are on vacation. Or maybe they got promoted. Hope we get back to having some interaction between them and kids in the future though.

Peace and quiet...

We spotted this couple during our Sunday hike in the Marin Headlands. They couldn't have been further away from it all.

Pool Basketball

This was actually a very amusing game to watch. The guy that's going up for the shot in the picture was very 'into' the game yelling and shouting throughout (I half expect him to scream something like "Khhhaaaaaaannnnn" when the other team would score, but usually he would just yell "Nooooooo"). Eventually the game became do whatever it takes to get the basketball and it degraded into kill the person holding the ball. I'm not sure who won, but it was highly amusing to watch.

Am I the only person that constantly notices the fact that the sentence describing the blog ends with a preposition? And I'm say I'm not suggesting we change it, but it's just something that I always notice.

Generations

I bumped into these two in the airport. I am pretty sure this girl's great grandfather was escorting her back to her parents. I was amazed at how well they got on. They had no ipods, game boys, or anything. The chatted and laughed and smiled when her parents called frequently to check up on the two of them.

I am a big believer in extended families...more kids should have access to this kind of interaction.

Ottawa folks

Park service workers open one of the locks to lower the water level and let some yachts through.
One of the many people that are passed by the yachts on the Rideau Canal. Posted by Picasa

Clean team...

Our favorite car wash...really our ONLY convenient car wash...is the Divisidero Touchless Car Wash. For ~$20, these guys and gals vacuum, wash, wax, clean tires, hand-dry, clean windows inside and out, and wipe down all interior surfaces. All this is done by a swarm of folks dressed in black who descend on the car at each stage. On sunny weekends, there must be 100 temporary employees buzzing around the lot.

Intense Discussion

I spotted these three guys at the Charlotte airport today engrossed in a discussion that lasted well beyond the 25 minutes it took me to finish my Mocha from Starbucks. Interestingly, they also spoke to a police officer later. I wish I could have heard what they were talking about. Posted by Picasa

Ba Da Bing

Yea, I know. Shame on me. If it makes you feel better, pretend they are surrounded by pigeons.

Just A Trim Please

This guy is out there in the extreme heat mowing our yard because I'm a lazy bastard (that and there's the whole issue of me not actually having a mower, but it's really the lazy part).

Sorry James...

One of the advantages of being on the West Coast is that my posts to this blog trump the East Coasters :) But I can assure you, James, that this was not intentional. I had worked on this photo earlier this evening before you posted your busty beach babe.

Tit for tat I suppose!

Reading Is Fundamental

More stuff from our recent vacation to the beach. I can't stress enough how important reading is, it really is fundamental. Remember kids, stay in school!
