Ottawa folks
Park service workers open one of the locks to lower the water level and let some yachts through. One of the many people that are passed by the yachts on the Rideau Canal.
Yea, the was one thing that was disturbing to me when I visited Ottawa ~9 years ago. The sheer number of beggers / possibly homeless people. It doesn't seem like it should be that bad (one would think the psuedo-socialism up there should take care of problems like that, but it appears not). I remember when I would eat at the food court at the mall I would get a lot of people just randomly walking up to me asking for handouts.
See, I can understand homeless in LA and SF, because the weather is nice all year. But Ottawa is too damn cold in the winter!! Socialized medicine or not.
Folks asking for money are still here to. I don't mind helping out those in need at all, but I hate when people are obviously taking you for a ride.
For example, while I was taking the bicycle shot a guy in a Rugby uniform...who obviously had plenty of time to work out asked me if I could spare some money.
I think it is ironic that the people who could use our help the most are sequestered in out of the way places (like under the bridge) while the scammers are out among the masses plying their trade.
