a stranger no more...

i went walking with a few friends in burwardsley, cheshire. part of the walk/climb takes you to the highest point of the sandstone trail, called 'raw head'. when we arrived at the summit this stranger was sat eating her lunch. when all the cameras came out she very kindly offered to take a group photo of us. she also helped us work out the safest (and most direct!) route back down to the inn where we were having lunch.
it's thirsty work... walking.

Walking on sunshine...

I spotted this Stranger at one of my favorite spots along Ocean Beach. You have to give this woman credit. The weather was been densely overcast all day, with the ever-present threat of rain. And yet, at sunset, this Stranger ventured out to the ocean with the hope of spotting sunshine.

"Advances" in technology...

These Strangers were trying out a vendors latest 3D television goggles. Funny thing...I tried these out...and I just don't see myself wearing big rubber goggles to watch a movie in my jammies. No matter what people try, 3D glasses always feels cumbersome.

Brisk swim...

This dedicated Stranger was the lone swimmer one cool Las Vegas morning. Not a bad plan, really...no pesky waders to dodge.

Outcast...

This lonely Stranger is part of the colorfully dressed staff at the Beatles LOVE show in Las Vegas. She was clearly not part of this other chatty group, below. I guess that even costumed people form cliques :)

Size matters...

This proud Stranger was showing off Panasonic's new "world's largest" plasma TV. 150 inches to be precise. It was the talk of the Consumer Electronics Show.

The worst (or best) job for a harp player...

Its an odd sight to see a lone harp player at an electronics conference, but this musical Stranger was quite at ease in the spotlight. She was playing in the Canon booth at CES in Las Vegas.

hold tight!

there was a carousel at the local shopping village recently. i spotted this guy going round and round. for a grown man, he looked like he was having far too much fun on there. then i went on with our 3 year old and did the same!

A Gray Day

I live in a city with the grand distiction of having the second-highest number of gray days per year, after Seattle. Winters are always long, and waiting for the bus tends to be miserable. At least it's warm once you get on-board.

The girl in pink was one of the few people dressed in bright colors today. Her outfit made me smile.

... I just came across this as I thumbed through a newspaper from wednesday. "Overboard" by Chip Dunham.

Tearing Up The Road

Yet another boring shot of construction workers, who in an ironic twist, appear to be bored watching the asphalt get torn up and dumped in the truck.

decisions decisions

i love going out for a meal. not only for the craic - but to people watch. the strangers on the table on the left took about 20 minutes deciding what to order. and whenever i glanced over at the couple on the right, they were silent. they hardly spoke to each other the whole time they were there.
jim morrison was right.

Back to the beach...

This Stranger and her furry pal were jogging along the beach in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. They probably came out to see the huge, storm-enhanced waves.

One more from the beach...

Take a close look at this weary Stranger, clutching his coffee like a dear friend. You know you're worn out when you sit in the sand in your black slacks.

Bird walk...

I spotted this Stranger squatting on the beach staring at seagulls. I found the standoff to be quite amusing :)

On the rocks...

Another thoughtful Stranger staring at the setting sun and the Pacific Ocean on New Years Day.

In the dunes...

On a beautiful, sunny New Year's Day, these Strangers chatted in the grassy dunes along Ocean Beach.
