Garbage Boat...

Even in Baltimore Harbor, the garbage must be collected. This gentleman was scooping up the plastic bottles, styrofoam cups, and cigarette butts that were floating in the channels.

Christmas in the Caribbean

I have lived in Michigan all my life, so I'm used to cold, snowy Christmases. Last year my family was in the Bahamas just after Christmas so the lights were still up— not surprisingly, twinkle lights and palm trees go well together. Strangers seem to flock to warm places in the winter months...




I still prefer the evergreen variety though.

This calm Stranger was relaxing in the afternoon sun at Versailles...the Temple of Love to be precise. I enjoy how her accessories match the foliage in the background.

Flowers in the City

I spent a month in Argentina this summer, and one thing I will never forget is the way you could not walk a block without seeing fresh-cut flowers for sale. Roses still remind me of Buenos Aires, especially when there are all different colors mixed together.


Every day as I walked to class, I passed by this man setting up his wares.


I never bought a bouquet from him, which is something I regret. I could find it if I ever visited the city again. Maybe someday I will buy flowers from him and he will cease to be a Stranger.

with the cold weather drawing in i thought i'd post one from the summer. i didn't envy this fella's job. it was 80+ degrees!
picture a queue of kids waiting for a photo with 'jack the bear'. take a photo, exit kids, pick up fan, put down fan, take a photo, exit kids, pick up fan, put down fan, ad infinitum.
do you ever play the game where you talk into a fan? it makes you sound like a dalek!

Strike a pose...

These Strangers just cracked me up! A middle aged couple, posing for photos at Versailles. They were quite serious about this shot...they posed, snapped, reviewed, re-posed, etc. for several minutes.
