Inconvenient...

No...this isn't your conventional Strangers photo...but frankly, this guy was just in the way. I shot over and around him as best I could, but there was this one shot I wanted...and he was there. So here is the back of his frickin' head.

Giant Strangers

Strangers take a bit of respite at the Giant's Causeway.

Off guard...

Heh, I really enjoyed this shot, simply because it catches the Stranger in an atypical moment. Surfers are usually shown in graceful, athletic poses.

another wet one...

i spotted this couple sat in a bar called farrington's across the way from a restaurant we were sitting in. there was no way they were coming out into the shower, they just sat chatting and people watching, occasionally taking a sip from their drinks. you can't tell from this photo but they were quite animated and looked like they were having fun, i guess i snapped them at a quiet moment.
as you can see from the sign it's located in the temple bar area of dublin which has a wonderful history.
oh yes, and it was wet... very wet!

Drenched...

This image captures a shared moment between Stranger and photographer. At the time I snapped this rain-soaked Stranger making his way down a soggy Venetian street, I too was soaked to the bone. The colorful canopies are just brief respites. (I promise that my Strangers shots do NOT have umbrellas after Venice :)

Bread Man

I love visiting the local farmers' market on Thursdays. You can always count on the bread man for some wonderful quickbreads, pastries and scones.

Out of the rain...

These travelers sought shelter from the rain in Santa Maria della Salute...perfect for planning a route through Venice's winding streets.

Stripes...

You have to love this Venetian Stranger, who's stripes echo the candy-cane poles of the Grand Canal.

Water water everwhere...

These Strangers won't let the rain keep them from checking off the "Ride a gondola in Venice" box from their tour list. Still...I really enjoyed how the gondolier had an umbrella too :)

Don't let the rain keep you in...

A rainy day in Venice is no excuse to stay inside. Venetians love to congregate in their neighborhood campos in all seasons. One of the side effects of being a walking town.

Day at the Beach

Apparently today was "coordinate-your-colors day" at the beach! No one told me about it...

Taking Flight

As observant people have probably noticed my last series of shots have been of events and people at a local carnival / fair called Viva Vienna. One of the rides they had was a hang glider simulator type thing where you just spin around and around for about a minute before the ride is over. So I got some shots of some people on the ride. In general there were two types of reactions of people on the ride. There were those that were screaming in terror and fear (usually accompanied by a death grip on the harness), and those screaming in delight. Basically there was a lot of screaming.

They Say It's Not The Size Of The Dog...

Whoever "they" are obviously haven't seen this dog. This thing was huge. I can't even begin to imagine how much he eats. Or how much it costs to feed him (assuming it is indeed a "he").

An old bridge...

The Point Bonita lighthouse in the Marin Headlands was at one time accessible via a narrow, rocky path which collapsed. Access was re-established via a wooden suspension bridge. Today, visiting Strangers may only cross the aging bridge in pairs. A less-than-comforting thought if you had a big breakfast :)

waiting for the high speed...

this group of strangers are waiting for the hss (high-speed sea service) in dun laoghaire harbour (pronounced 'dunleary').

i loved the way they were all caught up in their own little worlds - eating, chatting, reading.

i've left the image large so that you can get a close-up of them all, that way you can be really nosy!

Guts...

This courageous Stranger was out for a Saturday row...under the Golden Gate Bridge. With a strong wind through the Gate and a strong current, this man was one brave soul.

Baby Punk

Ok, normally I try and not post pictures of kids on here, but this guy gets to be the exception to the rule. Not surprisingly this kid was attracting looks from lots of passersby.

Strike Up The Band

My cousin was accepted to an art school across the country in San Francisco. So the family threw him a going away party before he left. There was even a live band playing.

Not A Straight Up Shot

Well, I like this shot better than my last two. I'm not normally a fan of changing the perspective angle, but it sort works in this shot partly because the tree on the side gives the false impression the photo is actually at the correct angle (at least that's how I see it).

They Could Be Happier

Another shot I don't care for overly much. It's framed much like yesterday's shot, but there's no orange hat in this one. Plus they don't look particularly happy. Maybe I just caught them at a bad time. I hope that's the case anyway.

Orange Hat And Funnel Cake

Ok, this isn't a great shot, but I like it for a couple of reasons. One is the woman's hat. Yea, that's right, I like the hat and I don't care who knows it. I doubt I could pull it off, but the main reason I took this photo was for the hat. The other reason I like the photo is I get the impression there's a one sided conversation going one. It looks like she's talking and talking about something and he's thinking "Man, this a good funnel cake." I could just be projecting though.
