Always with a smile...

I have always watched the Strangers that hold store signs at the side of road and wondered what they think about as cars whiz by barely noticing. You see these folks a LOT in Southern California (usually hawking jewelry stores, I've noticed). This Stranger, however, was in Denver. She seemed to have a perma-smile and a great attitude. Nevertheless, I'm not eating Southern BBQ in Colorado :)

Denver taxi...

This Stragner was my cabbie out of Denver International Airport this evening. A good talker.

Swimmers...

I hope nobody is offended by a few Strangers in Speedos™. These swimmers were lined up waiting for the race to begin.

I am amazed by the variety of people in this photo. Thick, thin, black, white, old, young, male, female. And all of them very good swimmers.

Snake Man...

Clearly, this Stranger really loves his job--teaching kids about really big snakes.

Wall of Strangers...

This is a fantastic arrangement of Strangers soaking up the afternoon sun in Paris. Specifically, this wall was in the courtyard of the Centre Pompidou.

Lookalikes...

Tell me that this Stranger does not resemble his canine pal: the squinty eyes, the drawn-down mouth, the cheeks, the shiny black coat. Separated at birth, I think :)

Human touch...

The swarm of Strangers make air travel work each and every time a plane comes in is truly amazing to watch. But my favorite is always the lone Stranger that welcomes the planes home with the flick of his wrists and two orange batons.

ubiquitous fishy activity

It was barely 38 degrees in the sunshine this weekend and yet he sat. Humming quietly and watching his line. Not into fishing myself, I am amazed the primal urge of some to fish. When I lived in Vermont, they would head out onto the ice, bore holes and sit for hours to catch some appetizer-size sunfish looking thingies. Makes me think I must be missing something.

Popular Pug...

Nothing seems to attract these young Strangers quicker than my pet pug. This poor fella certainly wasn't starved for attention. It was funny that every girl that pet him that day came armed with her own digital camera for candid shots with my pooch.

More text...

Another Stranger lost in the wireless world. We spotted this colorful character catching some sun and texting in the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris.

Braving the cold water...

These Strangers were two of a couple dozen fearless wave-riders who were braving the icy cold Northern California waters in the setting sun.

Good lungs...

This Stranger and her musical partner attracted quite a crowd at the ultra-industrial Centre Pompidou in Paris. On the day that we visited, the Centre's large, sunken public square was full of performers (musical, acrobatic) and general clusters of Strangers.
