Round And Round And Round She Goes

Another shot from the horse auction at the park. This stranger was doing something that required the horse to trot around in circles. And I really liked the colors on this horse and in retrospect I wished I had gotten some more shots of it.

That's called "lunging"— it's a way to warm up your horse and get any bucks out before you ride!

Learn something new everyday I suppose. I wonder if it's also suppose to get the most "bucks" out of the horse during the auction. :-)

Or, if this is a young horse it looks to me like halter and saddle breaking.

You have to get the horse used to wearing a halter or bridle and a saddle. He's trotting around because he has to get used to doing what the human expects of him while wearing all this gear.

Eventually, you work your way up to riding the horse... so yes, a horse that is ready to ride get the 'bucks' at auction.
