Golden Years

It was a beautiful Saturday morning. The coffee shop was full of folks getting java and pastries. I spotted these two outside pointing out trees and birds to each other, reading the paper, and relaxing. I took the picture because the couple had a great aura of satisfaction about them. I love people who know how to take time and relax and enjoy themselves. I am getting better at it, but I still have a lot to learn.

I have to say I think about myself and my husband when we get older quite a bit. Sometimes out of fear of what it would be like, and othertimes out of sheer need for calm.

But maybe, maybe it would be too calm.

Anyway, I'm glad I found the blog. Very well done. I'll be around checking out the new stuff as well.

;)

My parents are more active now as retirees than they were when they worked regular jobs. Maybe now it is because of the freedom to do the good things they always dreamed about.

From, the girl with parents who are always assisting people at the senior center, helping at United Way, volunteering at the school, or delivering Meals on Wheels and NEVER HOME!!!

I see so many older people that can spend an hour or two in a restaurant and never speak to one another the whole time. It is nice to see an older couple conversing.

I love this blog!

And in particular, I think this is one of my favorite pictures I've seen, here.

Nice work.

May we all be so lucky to find that special person who we like to share those moments with.

Love this pic. I have to admit that I am a bit like monica ford. a bit anxious about what getting old really means. but at the same time I look forward to being able to slow down, spend time watching trees grow, and being with my wife who has shared my life since 1987.

Hi~ I am new to Blogger and thought I would take a look around. I like what you have done here... and in comment to this particular picture.... I LOVE IT!

It has a very strong message~
"Slow down and enjoy life".

*noticing "alyssa" wondered what retired people do all day long it prompted me to share this~

My parents are now 80 and 75- I must say that they are busier now than when they actually had jobs! They both are very active in their community/church and spend their days enjoying each other and their friends. In fact, my mother has discovered writing and is quite good at it. (She is working on a book for her family-)

Some days are spent going for drives to the mountains or the beach (yes, they are both still very good drivers) and other days might be spent playing with their grandchildren. Life is too short to take things for granted... and if you are lucky enough to make it through to this age- consider every day after a blessing!

I have enjoyed my visit!
Take Care~

Smiles :-)
